  • A visit to the ancient capital of Lord Buddha, Lumbini. Excursion to Kushinagar (Buddha’s death), boat trip on the river Ganges and orientation walk of Kolkata city.
 
From the Himalayan capital Kathmandu, to the city of joy ‘Kolkata’ in India, we trail the footsteps of Buddha. From his birthplace Lumbini, to his last breath and from where he gave his first sermon in Sarnath. Together with Varanasi, the holy city in India, this trip is a spiritual journey into the faith of the millions of Hindus and Buddhist, inspiring you to take the right path.

ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu/ transfer to hotel. Day 02: Following breakfast, a heritage walk of the old part of Kathmandu city. After lunch a tour of the famous Hindu temple Pashupatinath followed by a visit to Boudhanath stupa. Day 03: Departure from Kathmandu for Lumbini. Afternoon a tour of Lumbini gardens & the Maya Devi temple. Day 04: Drive to the border town and proceed with the immigration formalities, continue drive to Kushinagar in India. Overnight train from Gorakhpur to Varanasi. Day 05: Arrival in Varanasi. Afternoon visit the Ghats for evening prayers, sunset and flower ceremony. Day 06: Half day tour of Sarnath. Day 07: Drive to Drive to Bodh Gaya, visit Mahabodhi temple and Bodhi tree. Drive to Patna, via Nalanda. Evening train to Kolkata from Patna. Day 08: Arrive Kolkata, visit Kalighat temple and the sights of colonial architecture. Day 09: Sightseeing tour of Kolkata. Day 10: Departure

 

Trip Grade: Touring with some gentle walks around temple courtyard.

Best Season: February to May in Spring and October to December in Autumn.

 

Recommended Equipments: Good pair of comfortable walking shoes, Gortex quality water proof jacket , fleece jacket, cotton trousers, tee shirts and shorts, sun hat, gloves, day pack, water bottle, sun glasses, flash light with spare batteries, insect repellent, bio-degradable toiletries, sewing kit, binoculars, playing cards and personal medical kit.

 

Trip Cost: Min 2 pax US $ 1450 per person on a twin sharing basis.


Cost includes
: Hotel accommodation in Nepal and India on B/B basis, sleeper class train journey, sightseeing tour with an English speaking guide and all transportation by private vehicle.
